Artist statement:
I am a painter, based in Bristol, originally from Norwich.
I was a comic strip illustrator for Dungeons and Dragons when I was younger and let go a place at Art College.
Apart from a short flirtation with large abstracts it was really not until my 40s that I started painting again. Unfashionable as it is, my major influences are great alla prima painters from the 19th/20th Century such as John Singer Sargent; Sorolla y Bastida; Anders Zorn.
These 3 paintings were a mini-project based entirely upon life drawings of nude models.
The focus was on limiting the palette, and rendering with speed and economy.
